Ongoing Support for One Percent For The Planet
Joining effective organizations that promote responsible business practices is important to our company. Since 2005 we have given 1% of our net sales to environmental projects approved by One Percent For The Planet.
We enjoy working with our shipping partners to help guests make better choices while on board expedition ships. One success story we initiated is a shift from the use of plastic water bottles to reusable bottles.

Official Outfitter for Antarctica Film Crew

At Home Support for Moms
We like to work within our community and often support local non-profits that share our values and environmental ethics. Such is the case of CoolMom.org.
Supporting the Alaska Raptor Center
We are proud to support the Alaska Raptor Center in Sitka, a key port for our rental gear program in Alaska. On our first visit to the center we came away invigorated by all the great work done by the team and knew then that the center was a good match for our local support program.
We’re now packing gear that guests order online for onboard delivery in compostable packaging. The new packages are waterproof, strong and will decompose in a home compost in three to six months. The bag also has two seals to facilitate re-use.
Knockando Primary School Outing
A fun and rewarding project for us: Designing and producing special t-shirts for school children in Scotland.
By reducing the number of velcro fastenings (especially on the ankles of waterproof trousers), removing mesh from backpacks, and switching to a boot with a larger open tread, we believe that the inherent risk of transporting seeds, soil and other biosecurity risk material, is greatly reduced. This is good news for South Georgia and beyond!
Outfitting SGHT’s Field Team on South Georgia Island
Ship to Shore Traveler has been an active steward since the beginning of a rat eradication program on South Georgia Island by providing camping gear, transporting supplies and critical gear that helped Team Rat accomplish the monitoring challenge.
Wild Water Whale Project
With support from the South Georgia Heritage Trust and Friends of South Georgia Island, the British Antarctic Survey Wild Water Whales project have carried out the largest dedicated whale survey ever undertaken in South Georgia waters. We were pleased to be able to help their efforts.
